The Entenza House, Case Study House #9
designed by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen.

My parents bought Case Study House #9 from John Entenza, the original owner and editor of Arts & Architecture magazine, in 1955 for $55,000.

My mother was the very first person to go through the house when it was opened to the public. She told my dad that this was her dream house and a few years later when it came on the market they bought it! She was Raphael Soriano's draftsman for a few years in the 1940s, so could appreciate what she saw.

The Intersection of Technology & Liberal Arts

Art and architecture have always been a part of my life, growing up in the Entenza House, surrounded by Eames and Saarinen furniture, with Charles and Ray Eames as neighbors. Technology entered into the equation not long before Apple Computer was born and both have continued to be at the core of my life, both personally and professionally. The poster from Apple's "Think different" campaign spotlighting Charles and Ray Eames sums it up perfectly for me. - Eliot Lipps
